Hey guys, I’m Becca and I’m the chair of the CiCC and this is my first blog post. Exciting! I’ve been in the council since it began, including three different groups; I was in an RVOICE group when I was about 11, and then I joined the KICASS group shortly after that. Now I’m the chair of the CiCC and I think its my job to help make sure that all children in care have a say in the stuff that affects them, and that they also have a chance to put their views forward and make changes. Thats what me and the CiCC have been doing for the last year and a half.
I reckon the CICC is a good thing, we’ve changed quite a few things already but there are many more things to change. I’m writing this blog with James at the same time as the CiCC meeting is happening next door. We have just met with Nicola Hannaford and she is the main person that manages the people who run our LAC reviews, she's really nice! We had the chance to bring up our issues with the way our reviews are structured and we’ve got a DVD going to Corporate Parenting Panel too, hopefully we can make LAC reviews better for all of us and we'll make sure we put what we're doing in the RVOICE magazine as well.
Take a look at the home page to see a video of me, and other members of the council signing the pledge. I used a Disney Princess pen which made James smile but I thought it was a good thing.
Hmmmm, that’s about it for now, I’ll keep you updated on what’s happening. Ooooooh the Autum RVOICE is due out , so please send poems and stories and get in touch with all the stuff you want to see
See y’all…
