Hi My name is Robyn and Monday night was my first time at the Children in Care Council. It was nothing like I expected it to be. I thought it would be boring and just sitting down and talking but it was actually fun and I actually had a really nice time.

We met the managers who work in Bristols children’s services and we got to ask them questions about themselves and their jobs. We had a few minutes with each one and then we changes seats so it was a bit like speed dating.

I really liked meeting all the managers they were really nice people. I thought they woukld be quite snooty but they were down to earth.
We talked about a lot of things that affect childfren in care and we didn’t really come up with any great ideas but we did have good chats and got to know them.

The other young people were friendly and welcoming and we had nice food. We were even given a box of chocolates by Annie Hudson because of the In Our Shoes training winning an award. I wasn't involved in that so I don't know much about it but I really want to get involved in training when I'm older.

I am definitely going to keep coming and go to the Christmas party and I would say to any Bristol young person in care –

‘Join it it’s fun!’
