Everyone has to decide about changing to secondary school right at the beginning of Year 6. There is a booklet which tells you about all the schools in Bristol. Some schools are called ‘academies’ but they are all available to you for when you start Year 7.
The booklets should also tell you when the open days are to have a look round schools that you are interested in. Then you need to sit down with all the adults that help you to decide which the right school is for you. The application is made on line and your social worker takes the lead on this. Round about March you will get a letter telling you that you have a place in your chosen school.
Towards the end of Year 6 you will have a special PEP where a teacher from the new school will come to hear all about you and talk about how they will be able to support you when you start in September.
