Welcome to term 5!
The weather wasn’t that warm or dry in Bristol for the Easter holiday, but I hope that you all enjoyed the break. Hopefully it will start to warm up soon!
I’m sure that lots of you were busy revising and preparing for the tests and exams that have started or are coming up soon. I wish lots of luck to all of you who will be taking tests and exams and I hope your revision is going well. Please remember that to be calm and focused, you need to have plenty of rest and relaxation. It’s important that you do your best – no one can ask more of you than that.
Maybe you have been watching some of the Commonwealth Games? It certainly looks nice and sunny from the bits I’ve seen and our home countries (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales) seem to be doing well.
I don’t know if you have heard that Bristol City Council has recently announced new support services for young people between the ages of 11 and 19? The work will start in June so look out for support activities going on near you if you live in Bristol.
There was more good news recently at the launch of the Career Coach scheme for Bristol’s young people in care. Career Coach pairs young people in Year 9 with local professionals based on the young person’s interests and preferred ways of learning. The idea is that the professionals offer support for five years, to give the young person they are working with help during secondary school and to encourage them to find the career that’s right for them afterwards. The HOPE has been involved in setting up this programme so we are really pleased that it has started and look forward to hearing how it’s going. Wishing you all a successful term.
